Despark International College Host Inaugural “Wheels & Thrills” Automotive Carnival

On November 16, 2024, Despark International College (DSIC) successfully hosted its first large-scale on-campus automotive carnival, Wheels & Thrills. Themed “Where Car Culture Meets Technology,” the event attracted a wide audience of car enthusiasts, students, parents, and members of the public. The vibrant atmosphere reflected DSIC’s strong emphasis on blending academic learning with hands-on practical experience.

The carnival showcased an impressive variety of vehicles, ranging from classic vintage cars and high-end luxury models to creatively modified custom builds. A real Formula One race car stood out as the centerpiece, attracting countless visitors who were eager to take photos and witness the cutting-edge world of motorsports up close.

Adding to the excitement, DSIC’s own student racers delivered a live drift demonstration. The roar of engines and clouds of tire smoke energized the crowd and drew rounds of enthusiastic applause. The EV Technology Interactive Section provided guests with a hands-on experience of the latest advancements in electric mobility, highlighting the industry’s transition toward sustainability and smart transportation.

Another major attraction was the SIM Racing Challenge, where attendees experienced the thrill of competitive driving through immersive simulation setups. The Robotics Section also garnered significant interest, featuring student-built autonomous model cars—designed and programmed by DSIC students—showcasing their interdisciplinary skills in mechanics, electronics, and coding.

Student’s Final Year Project Showcases included custom-built Go-Kart, ATV, Off-Road Buggy, and a Full Electric Formula FSAE Concept Car. These impressive creations demonstrated not only the students’ solid engineering foundations and practical abilities, but also the effectiveness of DSIC’s application-oriented teaching approach.

Wheels & Thrills served as a dynamic platform for students to showcase their talents and bridged the gap between automotive engineering education and the broader community. Looking ahead, Despark International College remains committed to enriching its practical curriculum and strengthening industry collaboration—preparing the next generation of skilled automotive professionals for the future.
